Buddhist has been the dominant religion in  Japan .

There are about 80,000 Buddhist temples around the country.

In most of them , the principal object of worship is a statue, in front of which visitors pray.

Buddhist statues can be classified into four main categories:

1   Nyorai

2 Bosatsu

3 Ten
